ASX / MEDIA ANNOUNCEMENT 8 July 2008
GCS Announces Acquisition in South West WA
Construction services group Global Construction Services (ASX: GCS, “GCS Group”) is pleased to announce the acquisition of a 75% interest in hire and sales provider Coastal Hire Pty Ltd (Coastal).
With branches in Bunbury, Busselton, Dunsborough and Margaret River, Coastal provides a range of construction services to customers in the fast-growing south west corridor of Western Australia.
GCS will acquire 75% of the shares in Coastal for $4.5 million in cash. The purchase will be debt funded with the balance of 25% to be acquired over the next two years. The balance of the purchase price is subject to the continued earnings performance of Coastal.
The acquisition includes plant and equipment with a replacement cost in excess of $3.5 million. The acquisition is expected to be earnings accretive.
GCS Group Managing Director Enzo Gullotti said he was pleased with the acquisition and looked forward to integrating the new business into the Group.
“This is another strategic acquisition for the GCS Group and provides the Group with an excellent entry into the high growth South West region of WA,” said Mr Gullotti.
“Coastal’s core business is very similar to GCS’ existing operations and will be a positive addition to the Group’s suite of existing services. Coastal is also involved in temporary fencing and events management hire in the South West and plans are in place for GCS to add these to its suite of services in the Perth metropolitan market.”
“In addition to these services, Coastal operates a general plant hire division out of its Dunsborough location, which the Group will expand on and introduce to other locations,” he said.
John Morrow, founder of Coastal will remain with the business as part of the GCS Group. Mr Morrow has an extensive history with the construction industry in the South West spanning 14 years.
Mr Gullotti said GCS Group continued to evaluate a range of opportunities that have the potential to provide a positive effect on GCS’s earnings and create value for shareholders.
