Milton Keynes hospital contract termination

Spire Healthcare Group plc (LSE: SPI), the major UK independent hospital group, announces that having reviewed the proposed project to build a new hospital in Milton Keynes, it has decided not to proceed.

Spire first announced its plan to develop a new hospital in the Milton Keynes area on 7 July 2017. The costs associated with the potential development of the site (£3.6m) were written off in FY18 results, although discussions with the Milton Keynes Development Partnership continued.

Spire has now terminated the contract with the Milton Keynes Development Partnership and will not proceed with the project.
