GAVIN MAY APPOINTED AS MANAGING DIRECTOR

Newland Resources Limited (Newland) is pleased to announce the appointment today of Mr Gavin May to the position of Managing Director. Mr May is a coal executive with over 30 years experience in the Australian and international coal industry. He was formerly CEO of ASX listed Gloucester Coal Limited, a Director of Noble Resources Australia Limited and recently COO of Toronto and Hong Kong dual listed SouthGobi Resources Limited.

“We believe Gavin’s extensive experience in the coal industry will give Newland the best opportunity to realise the full potential of the Company’s coal tenements” said Dr Tim Sugden, Chairman. “Gavin, who will be based in Sydney, will head a team that will develop coal resources on the Company’s extensive Bowen Basin tenements with an initial focus on the advancement of the Comet Ridge coking coal project”.

Mr May will receive a salary of A$350,000 per annum inclusive of standard superannuation and other entitlements, plus an annual bonus of up to 45% of base salary if specific targets are met. In addition, Mr May:

  • subject to Board approval and compliance with the Company’s Security Trading Policy, has the right to purchase on market up to one million ordinary fully paid Newland shares for a period of two (2) weeks after the date of execution his engagement; and

subject to Shareholder approval, will be granted:

  • ten million options issued free with an expiry date that is three years from the date of issue and are exercisable at a 50% premium to the VWAP of Newland shares in the last five trading days on which there were sales prior to the date of issue, and only vest 12 months from today; and

  • ten million options issued free with an expiry date that is three years from the date of issue and are exercisable at a 100% premium to the VWAP of Newland shares in the last five trading days on which there were sales prior to the date of issue, and only vest 24 months from today.

A Shareholder meeting to consider and approve the above issues will be called in the near future.

Mr Michael Mulroney has relinquished his responsibility as Acting Chief Executive Officer, and continues as a Non-Executive Director.

Drilling Update
