Thursday 21 September 2017 – Technology company MGM Wireless Limited (ASX:MWR) (“MGM” or “the Company”) is delighted to announce it has secured an agreement with the Western Australian (WA) Education Department under its existing contract. The agreement is the largest in the company’s history and will entail the rollout of MGM’s Outreach+ and School Star App communication services to all WA government schools.

MGM’s products provide several key features that drove the WA Education Departments decision. These include School Star’s two-way low cost in-app messaging, the ability to send messages from outside of school premises using Outreach+, advanced and automated messaging services for emergencies and analytics to help schools measure and refine their communication to improve parent engagement.

MGM’s School Star is a modern school app, resembling online social media and social networking service Facebook, but is more secure because it only allows registered parents and caregiver access. Outreach+ is fully integrated with School Star’s unique ability to send messages using low cost two-way in-app messaging which automatically switches over to SMS if the parent hasn’t installed the app, or has no internet connection. This feature will ensure all parents continue to receive absence messages – but at a significantly overall lower cost to parents, schools and the WA Education Department.

The upgrade will likely see a far larger number of government schools take up MGM services in WA and Australia. Initial interest from schools not currently using MGM services has been very strong.

MGM estimates this to be the largest agreement it has secured in its history. The exact positive impact to revenue is not possible to forecast but has the potential to be significant. Additional income will be derived through increased in-app message traffic, which will in turn depend on the number of schools that use the new services and the way in which they use them.

Currently, approximately 460 WA government schools use MGM systems and there are over 800 WA government schools in total. The new services will also be available to all other non-school WA Education Department agencies.

MGM Wireless CEO Mark Fortunatow: “Once again, the WA Education Department is leading the way in Australia by providing state of the art school communication services to improve student safety, attendance and success.

In 2009, it was the first Education Department in Australia to make automated SMS absence notification services available to all WA government schools. Now, by upgrading services to low cost in-app messaging and secure Facebook-style School products, the WA Education Department has set a new standard.

With cutting edge analytics to enable schools to measure their level of parent engagement, the rollout of these new products will raise the benchmark of school-parent communication in Australia and worldwide”.
