Interim Non-Executive Director Appointed

School communication technology company MGM Wireless (ASX:MWR) has announced the appointment of interim director Mr Glen Butler following the sudden passing of Executive Director and former Chief Technology Officer Mr Mark Hurd.

Executive Chair Mr Mark Fortunatow, who co-founded the Company with Mr Hurd in 2001, acknowledged the significant contribution Mr Hurd had made to the business over many years.

"Mark was a visionary who saw the potential for mobile commerce long before smartphones existed," Mr Fortunatow said. "We developed the first school SMS systems together as well as having a friendship that spanned decades.

"Mr Hurd stepped back from day-to-day operations some time ago but was actively involved at the Board level."

On behalf of the Board, Mr Fortunatow welcomed Mr Butler as interim Non-Executive Director.

Mr Butler is an experienced senior executive with a strong focus on sales, finance and manufacturing. His previous roles include President of Pratt Industries, Inc. (Visy) in the United States, General Manager of Visy Board in Australia, and Managing Director of Mariani Europe, a subsidiary of the largest private dried fruit company in the US.

"Glen joins us at a time when we are entering new markets with a manufacturing focus," Mr Fortunatow said.

"We welcome his energy and experience as a change agent who has a passion for training and development of strong management teams."
