Companies Announcements Office ASX Limited 20 Bridge Street Sydney NSW 2000
Announcement of New Product – RollstarTM at Today's AGM
Chairman Mark Fortunatow was pleased to announce today at the MGM Wireless AGM today that the Company is currently developing a cloudbased roll-marking solution called RollstarTM .
Cloud computing provides significant advantages to both providers and users, It provides suppliers such as MGM Wireless with the capacity to supply their customers with software applications and solutions via the internet, reducing costs for all parties and improving the quality of service provided.
"We feel very strongly now that cloud is the way of the future given the momentum is starting to build," MGM Wireless CEO Mark Fortunatow said. "It removes complexity for schools and makes very powerful software easily accessible and affordable to schools. As the Australian National Broadband Network is deployed across Australia, we will see a change in the way schools think about their software needs and re-engineer their business process and culture to take advantage of the opportunities cloud computing has to offer. The tipping point for customer acceptance will occur sometime in the next year or two, but then we will see uptake move very quickly. At MGM we want to be ready when this happens."
Development on RollstarTM is well advanced and is currently at the stage where a working prototype will be available to demonstrate to customers on Monday November 22. The final product will be completed by March 2011 ready for use in the new school year.
The product has been designed, architecture developed and testing carried out in Adelaide, however, the actual development of this exciting new technology has been done off-shore in a compressed time-frame and at a cost that would not have been possible in Australia.
Cloud computing is expected to be the key platform for all MGM future products, especially with the advent of the Australian National Broadband Network, which will provide high speed internet connectivity to every classroom, augmented by the Federal Government's program of supplying notebook computers for every teacher.
The RollstarTM application, will be hosted in an Australian cloud environment thereby maintaining the long-standing MGM Wireless policy that no student data will be sent off-shore. With cloud computing based, Rollstar, data will be stored centrally, however, technology and protocols are in place to ensure that data confidentiality and integrity will be maintained to a level acceptable to Australian education departments.
Key features of RollstarTM software include:
- Universal application to service all schools of every type;
- Complete integration with current MGM messaging solutions;
- The most advanced, easy to use attendance and student welfare management features and capability; and the
- Ability to migrate all current MGM roll marking clients to this new platform.
