Space Hellas: Implementation of Information Security and Continuity Management Systems in the 4th Health Region of Macedonia and Thrace

Following a competitive tendering process, Space Hellas undertook the development and implementation of an Information Security Management System (ISMS) and a Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) of the IT Directorate of the 4th Health Region of Macedonia and Thrace, making a decisive contribution to the successful certification of the organisation in accordance with the international standards ISO 27001 (Information Security Management System) and ISO 22301 (Business Continuity Management System).

At the same time, the company assumed the crucial role of Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) in order to ensure the Health Region's full compliance with the European NIS2 Directive and the new Greek law on cybersecurity, which determine the modern institutional framework for the protection of critical infrastructures and digital public sector services.

The adoption of the ISMS & BCMS systems and the successful certification demonstrate the operational maturity and technological readiness of the 4th Health Region to effectively respond to the increasing digital security and governance requirements. This significant achievement makes the 4th HR the first Health Region in Greece and one of the few public bodies in the country to have achieved these critical certifications.

ISO 22301 certification ensures that the IT Directorate of the 4thHR has established and is implementing a robust and operationally efficient framework for prevention, responding to and recovering from sudden incidents that may disrupt business continuity and the provision of essential services. This feature guarantees the uninterrupted operation of information systems, even under adverse conditions, ensuring the continuation of the provision of quality and reliable health services to citizens.

Accordingly, ISO 27001 certification confirms the strategic commitment of the Health Region to information management and security, ensuring the effective protection of citizens' and employees' sensitive data from risks, breaches and unauthorised access. This compliance further enhances the sense of trust, credibility and transparency in the Administration's relations with citizens and collaborating bodies.
