Airport and Data Centre awards over $70m

  • Awards received totalling over $70m

  • Two work packages on Western Sydney Airport Stand Alone Facilities Project

  • Two work packages at a Sydney hyperscale data centre

Project awards

Southern Cross Electrical Engineering Limited (“SCEE Group”) is pleased to announce that its Heyday subsidiary has been awarded a range of projects totalling over $70m as follows:

  • CPB Contractors Pty Limited has awarded Heyday the Western Sydney Airport Stand Alone Facilities Project, comprising two major packages of works critical for airport operations and supporting key border agency functions.

Heyday’s scope is to design and construct the electrical, communications, ICT, security, and audio-visual systems, and to provide electric vehicle chargers and photovoltaic systems for both sites. SCEE subsidiary MDE Group will provide the communications and ICT services to Heyday along with the critical network cabling infrastructure to interface into the sitewide network systems.

The works are due for immediate commencement and are scheduled for completion in or around the first quarter of 2027.

  • J Hutchinson Pty Ltd has awarded Heyday two further packages of electrical works at a hyperscale data centre in Sydney’s west. Commencing with the original base building contract, these two further awards will bring the total number of packages that have been awarded to Heyday at this site to six. The works on these two new packages are due for immediate commencement and are scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2026.

Comment

Commenting on the above, SCEE Group Managing Director Graeme Dunn said “This award at Western Sydney Airport will bring to eleven the number of packages of works given at this infrastructure project to our group – five of them to Heyday, and six to MDE working either directly for a third party or as a subcontractor to Heyday.

As I commented in November 2021, when we announced our very first award at the airport, we

viewed that this major development would generate economic activity and employment over many years on which Heyday was set to capitalise. This announcement vindicates that view and we still believe there will be many other opportunities here, and in the adjacent Aerotropolis region, to come.”
