Southern Cross Electrical Engineering Limited (“SCEE Group”) is pleased to announce its SCEE Electrical business has received contract awards in the resources and infrastructure sectors totalling $30m as follows:

  • SCEE Electrical has been awarded three packages of works on the Northern Goldfields Solar Project (NGSP) by juwi Renewable Energy Pty Ltd. NGSP is a 38.1 MW solar power project which will be connected to the existing TransAlta electrical network in the Goldfields region of Western Australia and comprises a 27.4 MW solar array at Mt Keith and a 10.7 MW solar array at Leinster supported by a 10.1 MW/5.4 MWh battery energy storage system (“BESS”) at the Leinster Power Station. The scope of works in the SCEE Electrical packages includes the electrical installation works at the Mt Keith and Leinster solar farms, the Leinster BESS and provision of CCTV for the three sites and the packages are to be completed by the end of 2022.

  • In Queensland, BMD Constructions Pty Ltd have selected SCEE Electrical for two packages to deliver the metro end of trip facilities upgrades as part of the Brisbane Metro project. SCEE Electrical will provide the enabling infrastructure for the end of route flash charging facilities required by the all-new battery electric metros. Works have commenced and are scheduled for completion in mid-2023.

  • SCEE Electrical has been awarded a Master Services Agreement (MSA) by Newmont Mining Services Pty Ltd to provide general electrical and shutdown labour support at Newmont Boddington in Western Australia. This commenced in August 2022 and is for a three-year term. SCEE Electrical has been operating under an MSA at Newmont Boddington since May 2016.

Comment

Commenting on the above, SCEE Group Managing Director Graeme Dunn said “These solar power and electric vehicle infrastructure awards, together with our ongoing battery project for Rio Tinto at Tom Price in the Pilbara and our recently announced Atlassian Australia HQ building project with its innovative energy saving design, demonstrate the breadth of exposure that the SCEE Group has to the ongoing decarbonisation of the economy.

The anticipated expenditure in Australia required to achieve the desired transition in how society consumes energy is massive and the SCEE Group is well positioned to enable many aspects of this change to happen.”
