Highlights

  • SCEE signs contract for circa $40m of electrical services at Sydney Metro’s Pitt Street Station

  • First award on Australia's biggest public transport project

Southern Cross Electrical Engineering Limited (“SCEE”) is pleased to announce that its Sydney-based subsidiary Heyday has signed a contract with CPB Contractors, part of the CIMIC Group, for the design and construction of the electrical services associated with Sydney Metro’s Pitt Street Station integrated development.

This integrated development will provide a 250 metre-long underground station between Pitt Street and Castlereagh Street and connect the two station entries with retail and other commercial facilities. Heyday’s scope is for the design and construction of services for the north and south station boxes, concourses, and platforms and for infrastructure provision for the over-station development including HV and LV networks and UPS, lighting, power and operating systems.

The value of the award is circa $40m and the project is due for completion in the second quarter of 2023.

Heyday will also be assisting CPB Contractors and Oxford Properties Group working towards the design and construction of two high-rise buildings above the station. The buildings will be 39-storeys each and comprise one commercial office building and one residential building. The value of this component of the project would be confirmed if and when awarded.

Comment

Commenting on the award, SCEE Managing Director Graeme Dunn said “Sydney Metro is Australia's biggest public transport project and I am proud that Heyday has won its first award on such a prominent development and we look forward to working with CPB Contractors to deliver this important new station.”
