Highlights

  • Over $50m of awards in the commercial sector and framework agreements in resources and telecommunications

  • Range of awards demonstrates sectoral and geographic diversity of SCEE group

Southern Cross Electrical Engineering Limited (“SCEE”) is pleased to announce a number of new awards in the commercial, resources and telecommunications sectors.

Commercial

SCEE’s Sydney and Canberra-based subsidiary Heyday has been awarded the following projects with an aggregate value exceeding $50m:

  • In the ACT, Heyday has secured an award from Geocon Group for the second stage of the High Society project in the Section 200 precinct. High Society is a dual tower development that together will become Canberra’s tallest buildings and Heyday’s scope encompasses design and construction of the electrical, communications and MATV services.

  • At 3 Parramatta Square in NSW, Built Obayashi Corporation JV (‘BOJV’) has awarded Heyday a contract for Tower 3 of Walker Corporation’s Parramatta Square development. This 43,000 sq metre commercial project will have an expected completion in 2020 and complements the earlier award by BOJV to Heyday of Tower 4 in December 2017.

  • At the Australian Technology Park in Eveleigh in NSW, Mirvac has awarded Heyday a contract for the fit-out for CBA for the Upper Ground to Level 7 floors. Heyday is currently performing base building works at that site.

  • Heyday has agreed terms and conditions with Built for works at the Star Casino Sovereign Resort in Pyrmont. Built is undertaking an expansion for The Star Entertainment Group of their Sovereign Resort enhancing approximately 8,000 sq metres of facilities once completed. Heyday’s scope of works includes the supply and installation of specialty lighting systems, security management, access control, and CCTV.

Resources

In the resources sector, SCEE has entered into a Master Services Agreement with iPipe Services for the provision of specialist electrical and instrumentation installation services for iPipe’s portion of off plot expansion works at Arrow Energy’s gas projects in the Surat and Bowen Basins in Queensland. SCEE will be responsible for the electrical and instrumentation installation as well as the overhead line installation associated with the gas and water gathering systems.

SCEE has also been awarded a contract by CITIC Pacific Mining to provide electrical maintenance services at the Sino Iron project in Western Australia for a three-year term. The award extends SCEE’s long-standing relationship with CITIC Pacific Mining on that project.

Telecommunications

Datatel, SCEE’s telecommunications-focused subsidiary, has expanded its wireless tower installation works for Huawei into the Northern Territory.

Comment

Commenting on the awards, SCEE Managing Director Graeme Dunn said “Combined with our announcement of the Westconnex contract last week, this range of projects demonstrates the sectoral and geographic diversity of the group with awards in four of the five sectors in which we operate and in the majority of the states and territories of Australia.

It is also pleasing that already at the beginning of this new financial year we are starting to build visibility of work into the following financial year and beyond.”
