Southern Cross Awarded Barrick Electrical Construction Contract

Southern Cross Electrical Engineering Limited (ASX:SXE) is pleased to announce it has received a Letter of Award from Hatch Associates International Ltd to undertake electrical and instrumentation installation work at the Pueblo Viejo Project for Pueblo Viejo Dominicana Corporation, a joint venture owned by Barrick Gold Corporation (60%) and Goldcorp Inc. (40%). This project is located in the Dominican Republic and work is expected to commence in December 2010 and run through to the December 2011 quarter.

Barrick has been a key client of SXE for over 20 years now and Mr Simon High said he was very pleased to continue the close relationship SXE has with Barrick and Hatch on their projects internationally.

Mr High said “We believe this is the start of a significant amount of international work that will take place over the next three to five years especially in Peru and Chile. The permanent facility SXE has had in Peru for nearly 15 years means the Company is well positioned to take advantage of these opportunities.”
