Appointment of New Independent Non‐Executive Directors

Southern Cross Electrical Engineering Ltd (ASX:SXE) is pleased to advise the appointment of 2 new independent non‐executive directors, Dr John (Jack) Hamilton and Mr Peter Forbes, to the board of Southern Cross effective from the 1[st] October 2011.

Jack Hamilton holds a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering Degree and a Doctorate of Philosophy (Engineering) both from the University of Melbourne. He has held a number of senior executive roles with international oil and gas exploration and production companies including Shell, Woodside and Liquid Niugini Gas. Whilst with Woodside, Jack Hamilton was Director NW Shelf Ventures having overall responsibility for Woodside’s NW Shelf Ventures Business Unit.

Jack currently holds a non‐executive directorship with Geodynamics Ltd and an executive directorship with Exergen Pty Ltd.

Peter Forbes is a Fellow of Certified Practicing Accountants, a Fellow of Chartered Secretaries Australia and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

In the past Peter was Deputy Chief Executive and Executive General Manager, Equities, Queensland Investment Corporation (1989‐2003) and also previously held a number of senior management positions across a broad range of industries.

Peter currently holds non‐executive directorships with Macarthur Coal Ltd, QIC Private Capital Pty Ltd and Cubbie Group Ltd (subject to Deed of Company Arrangement). He also serves as a member on the Queensland Council of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

SXE Chairman, John Cooper said he is very pleased to welcome both Jack Hamilton and Peter Forbes to the board of Southern Cross, where their broad range of skills, expertise and industry knowledge will be a significant asset to the company.
