Appointment of Non-Executive Chairman

Sound Energy, the European / Mediterranean focused upstream gas company, is pleased to announce that it has appointed Stephen Whyte, an existing Non-Executive Director of the Company, as Non-Executive Chairman with immediate effect.

Stephen Whyte has over 25 years' experience in the oil and gas industry.  He was Chief Operating Officer / E&P Executive Director at Galp Energia for three years and prior to that spent three years as Senior Vice President Commercial at BG Group (following fourteen years with the Royal Dutch Shell Group).

The Company does not intend to appoint an additional Non-Executive Director in the short term, with a view to securing a structural cost reduction.
