Philippe R. Rollier, formerly president and chief executive officer of Lafarge North America, Inc. and executive vice president of Lafarge Group, was elected to the Sonoco Board of Directors on July 17, 2007.

The Corporate Governance and Nominating Committee, which recommends committee appointments, has not yet discussed the committees to which Mr. Rollier will be appointed.
