Snam received the United Nations Gold Standard for the fifth consecutive year for its commitment to reducing methane emissions

San Donato Milanese (MI), 22 October 2025For the fifth consecutive year, Snam has been awarded the Gold Standard recognition by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), reaffirming the Group's ongoing and concrete commitment to reducing methane emissions.

The recognition, assigned as part of the Oil & Gas Methane Partnership 2.0 (OGMP 2.0) initiative promoted by UNEP, rewards companies that adopt the highest standards of transparency and accuracy in methane emissions reporting and mitigation efforts. Based on annual assessment of over 150 companies worldwide, Snam stands out for its excellence in monitoring, reporting and reducing methane emissions. The Company has voluntarily been adhering to the OGMP 2.0 protocol since 2020.

Consistent with the commitments made as part of the initiative, Snam recorded a 13% reduction in methane emissions in 2024 compared to the previous year and a 63% reduction compared to the 2015 baseline. These results are part of a broader climate strategy, which in 2024 led to a 16% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions compared to 2023, and 29% compared to 2022. In addition, Scope 3 emissions decreased by 10% compared to 2023 and by 15% compared to the 2022 baseline, thanks to the reduction in the emission intensity of the supply chain and lower emissions from subsidiaries.

This recognition confirms Snam's commitment to reduce methane emissions and its path towards Carbon Neutrality, to achieve zero Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2040 and Net Zero on all emissions, including Scope 3, by 2050. The Company is also committed to decarbonizing the energy system through the development of innovative solutions such as carbon capture and storage (CCS), which also supportsthe competitiveness of hard-to-abate industries.
