International Private Equity GmbH & Co. KG’, the private equity fund of funds that bmp advises, has increased its portfolio to include three additional attractive target funds with total commitment volume which converts to around EUR 10 million. This means that the currently committed volume of the fund of funds is now around EUR 26 million, which will be invested in eight different target funds in North America and Europe. bmp advises König & Cie. on selecting target funds and investment strategy. The funds in which these new investments are now to be made are KKR Global 2006 Fund, Thomas H. Lee Equity Funds VI and Francisco Partners II. In accordance with the proven methods of KKR, KKR Global 2006 Fund will carry out investments in large and very large buyouts, primarily in North America. König & Cie. will invest USD 5 million in these funds, the target volume of the fund as a whole amounts to more than USD 15 billion. Two investments have already been made. Thomas H. Lee Equity Fund VI will also be active in making investments in large buyouts, primarily in North America, and has a target volume of USD 8 billion – five investments have already been made. The investment in this fund from the Private Equity fund of funds of König & Cie. will amount to a total of USD 5 million. And, finally, the investment in Francisco Partners II, which was fixed at USD 2 million by the Private Equity fund of funds of König & Cie. in 2005, has been raised to USD 4 million. The Francisco Partners II fund is to have a volume of USD 2.3 billion and is already in possession of portfolio companies. The investment strategy provides for buyouts and growth financing exclusively in the Technology segment. The König & Cie. private equity fund is a fund of funds that invests exclusively in select private equity funds. Its focus is directed towards target funds with investment concentrations in Europe (approx. 50-60%) and in North America (approx. 30-40%). Under the auspices of this strategy, the fund is to invest in up to twelve target funds, each of which is in turn to invest in 10 to 20 companies. The portfolio consists at present of six buyouts and two venture capital funds involving funds of such renowned companies as the Carlyle Group, Oak Hill Capital Partners, Wellington Partners, Gilde Buy-Out and Mangrove Partners. The design of the fund of funds guarantees the distribution of investment capital among a large number of target companies, which significantly reduces risks of default. An attractive rate of return for the investor ought to be ensured on the basis of the selected target funds.
