Sky services during New Zealand’s Covid-19 lockdown
25 March 2020
Sky Network Television Limited (NZX/ASX:SKT) is an essential service with its news and entertainment content delivered to New Zealanders over its reliable satellite platform.
Sky supports the Government’s moves to eliminate Covid-19 by placing New Zealand under Level 4 restrictions for the next four weeks, commencing at 11.59pm Wednesday 25 March 2020, and is committed to informing and entertaining New Zealanders during this difficult time.
Sky has reduced its on-site resources to ‘essential staff’ working under strict safety controls. This small team will ensure that New Zealanders continue to have access to news, entertainment and sport across Sky’s satellite, streaming and free-to-air platforms, supported by a wider group of Sky staff working from home for the period of the Level 4 restrictions.
These remain very uncertain times. Sky continues to work on various initiatives with rights-holders, and is reviewing work programmes in light of the Covid-19 restrictions. Sky has made a range of offers to residential and commercial customers with immediate effect to help them through the Level 4 restrictions and to offer more value to residential customers. It is too early to assess the implications of these moves.
Given the rapidly changing situation, Sky will continue to seek guidance from Government with an emphasis on staff safety and supporting the objective of elimination of Covid-19 in New Zealand.
