Simble Appoints Energy Industry Expert Darryl Flukes as Non-Executive Director

Sydney, 16 December 2020: Smart energy Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) company Simble Solutions Limited (ASX:SIS) (‘Simble’ or ‘the Company’) is pleased to announce that it has appointed Mr Darryl Flukes as a Non-Executive Director of the Company, effective immediately.

Mr Flukes is a recognised leader and expert across the Australian energy sector with a focus on renewables and energy retail. He has deep experience in energy commodity markets and risk management backed by a breadth of knowledge and skills across a number of corporate disciplines.

He is currently Chair of ESCO Pacific Pty Ltd (ESCO), an Australia-focused utility-scale solar developer and asset manager. ESCO has a proven track record of developing solar projects from early-stage feasibility through to financial close, project commissioning and asset management. The success of ESCO was recently vindicated with Shell New Energy acquiring a 49% holding.

Mr Flukes is also an advisory board member of Country Carbon, a leading provider of carbon offsets from Australian farmers. Prior to this, he was a board member of wind generator/retailer Powershop (Meridian Energy), Chairman of SME retailer/gas generator Perth Energy, and a past board member of the Clean Energy Council, the peak body for the clean energy industry in Australia.

From 2005 to 2013, Mr Flukes was CEO of Infratil Energy Australia as it grew its retail business, Lumo Energy, from a start up to becoming a leading Australian energy supply business, realising a sale to Snowy Hydro of over $600m.

He has also served as General Manager at hydro generator Southern Hydro and earlier roles in the United Kingdom with Vitol and BP.

As Simble embarks on a new phase of growth, Mr Flukes’ experience and connections in the energy sector will be invaluable. The Company anticipates that he will help expand Simble’s commercial partnerships and potential distribution channels. In addition, he will assist the Company in identifying and assessing M&A opportunities in the fast-evolving energy systems market in which software will play a central role in the management of power consumption, monitoring and the integration of grid, solar and battery technologies.

Retirement of Philip Tye as Director

Simble also announces that Non-Executive Director Philip Tye has retired from the Company’s Board effective immediately.

Mr Tye has been a Non-Executive Director since Simble’s IPO and the Company thanks him for his service and contributions during this time.

Mr Tye’s fellow Board members and the Company’s senior executives have greatly benefitted from his guidance during his tenure at Simble. Mr Tye has also been a supportive shareholder and has participated in recent equity issues undertaken by the company.
