Für den Inhalt der Mitteilung ist der Emittent verantwortlich. —————————————————————————— Neun-Monats-Zahlen Siemens-Gewinn steigt um 17 Prozent – Umsatz wächst um 12 Prozent – Epcos soll noch 1999 an die Börse Der Siemens-Konzern hat in den ersten neun Monaten des Geschäftsjahres 1998/99 weiter an Ertragskraft gewonnen. Im Zeitraum 1. Oktober 1998 bis 30. Juni 1999 stieg der Gewinn nach Steuern vor außerordentlichem Ergebnis um 17 Prozent auf 2,086 Mrd. DM. Der Umsatz wuchs um 12 Prozent auf 92,2 Mrd. DM und der Auftragseingang um elf Prozent auf 97,6 Mrd. DM. Zum Ergebnisanstieg in den ersten neun Monaten haben fast alle Bereiche bei- getragen. Den größten Anteil beim Ergebnis vor Zinsen und Ertragssteuern (EBIT) lieferte der Industrie-Bereich Automatisierungs- und Antriebstechnik (A&D) mit 1,035 Mrd. DM. Danach folgen der Bereich Information and Communication Networks (ICN) mit 680 Mio. DM sowie Osram mit 502 Mio. DM und Medizinische Technik (Med) mit 419 Mio. DM. Deutlich verbessert hat sich auch die Ertragslage im Be- reich Information and Communication Products (ICP). Nach neun Monaten betrug der EBIT 479 Mio. DM. Davon wurden 293 Mio. DM im dritten Quartal erzielt. Hier schlägt sich der Verkaufserfolg der neuen Mobiltelefon-Generation nieder. Halbleiter/Infineon kehrte im dritten Quartal mit 41 Mio. DM beim EBIT in die Gewinnzone zurück und meldete in den gesamten neun Monaten noch einen Verlust von -62 Mio. DM. Die Energieerzeugung (KWU) hat einen EBIT von 106 Mio. DM in den ersten neun Monaten erreicht. Die Verkehrstechnik (VT) hat ihren Verlust deutlich reduziert (EBIT von -83 Mio. DM). Siemens hält für das Gesamtjahr 1998/99 am Ziel fest, den Umsatz zweistellig zu steigern und einen Gewinnzuwachs auszuweisen, der über dem Umsatzzuwachs liegt. Die Infineon Technologies AG, der ehemalige Bereich Halbleiter, sowie die Epcos AG, Kernstück des Bereichs Passive Bauelemente und Röhren (PR), sind bereit für den Börsengang in Deutschland und den USA. Epcos soll im vierten Quartal des Kalenderjahres starten und Infineon im ersten Quartal 2000 folgen. Das Werk Witten des Bereichs Information and Communication Networks (ICN), in dem rund 1.100 Beschäftigte Hicom-Telekommunikationssysteme herstellen, soll zum 1. September 1999 an die Vogt electronic AG, Erlau bei Passau, verkauft werden. Siemens beabsichtigt, mit Vogt einen Rahmenliefervertrag mit mehr- jähriger Laufzeit abzuschließen. Eine weitere Kooperationsvereinbarung wurde im Bereich KWU getroffen. Siemens und die J.M. Voith AG, Heidenheim, legen ihr Geschäft mit Wasserkraftwerken in einem Joint-venture zusammen. An der neuen Gesellschaft Voith Siemens Hydro GmbH&Co KG wird Voith 65 Prozent halten. Das neue Unternehmen kommt mit rund 2.200 Beschäftigten auf ein Geschäftsvolumen von rund einer Milliarde DM und strebt die Nummer 1 in der Wasserkraft an. The first nine months of fiscal 1999 Siemens earnings climb 17 percent – Sales rise 12 percent- Epcos to be publicly listed in 1999 Siemens has substantially increased its profitability in the first nine months of fiscal 1999. In the period from October 1, 1998 to June 30, 1999, net earnings before extraordinary items climbed 17 percent to DM 2.086 billion. Sales rose 12 percent to DM 92.2 billion and orders 11 percent to DM 97.6 billion. Virtually all Groups have contributed to the nine-month earnings increase. The Automation and Drives Group (A&D), with earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) of DM 1.035 billion, made the largest single contribution to company profitability. The Information and Communication Networks Group (ICN) followed, with an EBIT of DM 680 million. Osram, with an EBIT of DM 502 million, and Medical Engineering (Med), with an EBIT of DM 419 million, were next. The Information and Communication Products Group (ICP) has also boosted its profitability considerably. The Group’s nine-month EBIT totaled DM 479 million, of which DM 293 million was posted in the third quarter. This result reflects the success of the Group’s new cellphone models. Infineon showed a profit for the third quarter, generating an EBIT of DM 41 million for this quarter while still reporting a loss of DM 62 million for the nine-month period. With an EBIT of DM 106 million, the Power Engineering Group (KWU) was profitable for the full nine months. The Transportation Systems Group (VT) has slashed its losses to post a negative DM 83 million EBIT. Siemens expects to reach its fiscal 1999 target of double-digit sales growth, outpaced by the increase in earnings. Infineon Technologies AG – the former Semiconductors Group – and Epcos AG – the core business of the former Passive Components and Electron Tubes Group – are now ready for public listing in Germany and the U.S. Plans call for listing Epcos in the last quarter of this calendar year and Infineon in the first quarter of 2000. The facility in Witten, Germany, where some 1,100 employees of the Information and Communication Networks Group (ICN) produce Hicom telecommunications sys- tems, is slated for sale to Vogt electronic AG, located in Erlau near Passau, Germany on September 1, 1999. Siemens intends to conclude a multi-year general supply contract with Vogt. Siemens’ Power Generation Group (KWU) has concluded a cooperative agreement with J.M. Voith AG, located in Heidenheim, Germany, to consolidate the two companies’ hydroelectric power plant businesses in a new joint venture. Voith will have a 65-percent stake in the new company, Voith Siemens Hydro GmbH&Co KG. The joint venture – with 2,200 employees and a business volume of roughly DM 1 billion – aims to be the world’s top player in its industry. Ende der Mitteilung
