Oakey Contamination Class Action – Litigation Funding
Shine Corporate Ltd (the Company ) today announces that the agreement by litigation funder IMF Bentham Limited ( IMF ) to fund a proposed class action to be conducted by the Company’s subsidiary, Shine Lawyers Pty Ltd, against the Commonwealth of Australia (Department of Defence) in relation to contamination at the Oakey Army Aviation Centre, Queensland, has become unconditional.
IMF has confirmed that the condition precedent to the agreement, requiring sufficient claimants with valid claims entering into funding agreements with IMF, has been satisfied.
The proposed action will be conducted on behalf of property and business owners affected by contamination alleged to have arisen from the use of aqueous film forming foam at the aviation centre.
The Board is also pleased to confirm the extension of its CBA facilities, including an additional $9 million market rate facility.
