Shine Corporate Ltd (SHJ) – Key Senior Executive Role Changes Effective 24 August 2016

The Board of Shine Corporate Ltd (the Company ) is pleased to announce that Courtney Petersen will transition to Managing Director ( MD ), allowing Simon Morrison to move into the role of Executive Director, with effect from the release of the Company’s FY16 results on 24 August 2016. This follows Ms Petersen’s appointment in March 2015 as the CEO of Shine Lawyers, a subsidiary of the Company and, more recently, her appointment to the Board as an Executive Director.

Chairman Tony Bellas said, “The Board took the strategic decision over two years ago to increase the bench strength of the executive team, specifically recruiting Courtney as part of its succession planning for the MD role.”

Simon Morrison, the current MD, will remain an Executive Director focussing on key strategic initiatives including sourcing acquisitions, new practice areas and geographies, as well as regulatory and policy work.

With 17 months’ service with the Company and before that more than 20 years in senior roles with companies such as Aurizon, Queensland Rail, Tabcorp and Telstra, Ms Petersen has extensive executive and strategic experience.

Mr Bellas said, “The Board congratulates Courtney on her appointment. She has a strong pedigree in successfully leading and optimising businesses and is a highly capable successor to Simon. As CEO of Shine Lawyers, Courtney has demonstrated her capability in strategic and transformational delivery to best position the Company for growth into the future and her personal style reflects the commitment and passion necessary for delivering the best outcome for our clients and shareholders.”

“The executive team has been strengthened with the recruitment of three new experienced executives, Geniere Aplin as Chief Operating Officer, Jim Holding as Chief Legal Officer and Christopher Hughes as Head of Integration & Enterprise Services, adding to the previously announced appointments to the positions of Chief Financial Officer and Head of People & Culture.” More information about Ms Aplin, Mr Holding and Mr Hughes is set out in Appendix 1.

Mr Bellas said, “The Board is confident that it has the executive team with the skills and expertise to continue to grow the Company and deliver on the expectations of its shareholders, clients and other key stakeholders.”

“Importantly, Mr Morrison’s continued involvement as an Executive Director enables the Company to benefit from his deep legal expertise and strategic insights.”

Spanning almost 30 years with Shine, Mr Morrison and Mr Stephen Roche (who remains a consultant to the Company) have grown the business from one office in Toowoomba to 48 offices in Australia with over 700 staff.

Both Mr Roche and Mr Morrison remain committed to the Company as major shareholders.

APPENDIX 1– Supplementary Information on Key Executives

Geniere Aplin, Chief Operating Officer

Geniere commenced her career as a plaintiff personal injury lawyer before moving into financial services and insurance with Suncorp. During her time as an executive at Suncorp, Geniere held a number of roles spanning insurance, strategic sourcing, real estate and banking. Geniere also has public sector experience in workers compensation and compulsory third party at a state and federal level. Immediately prior to joining Shine, Geniere held an executive role at NSW WorkCover where she was responsible for managing $2.6 billion in premiums per year, 100,000 claims and was integral in working with government on legislative reforms.

Key among the attributes Geniere brings with her is a strong track record in leading programs to transform businesses and their personnel whilst delivering exceptional outcomes for clients and shareholders. Geniere joined Shine in 2016 as Chief Operating Officer.

Geniere is a current member of the Audit Committee for Ambulance Victoria. In addition to the above, Geniere has held roles as Chairperson of the Motor Accidents Authority NSW, board member of NSW WorkCover, member of the Personal Injury Education Foundation Board and member of the Compare Audit & Risk Committee.

Jim Holding, Chief Legal Officer

Jim also commenced his career in private practice and has worked in a number of leading firms over the last 30 years including Blake Dawson Waldron (now Ashurst), King & Wood Mallesons, Dibbs Barker Lawyers and DLA Piper. Mostly recently, Jim held the role of Office Managing Partner at DLA Piper. He will bring the experience gained at DLA Piper in managing legal practices to his new role when he commences in early September.

As the Chief Legal Officer of the Shine Group, Jim will draw on his core strengths which include strong and collaborative leadership and motivating teams to deliver outcomes for clients.

In addition to Jim’s executive experience, he is the current Chairman of both Queensland Cricket and the Brisbane Heat.

Christopher Hughes, Head of Integration & Enterprise Services

Christopher started his career as a lawyer at Blake Dawson Waldron (now Ashurst) in Brisbane before joining Accenture’s Strategy Consulting practice where he gained experience across a number of industries. Christopher went on to hold senior strategy and finance roles at Westpac before moving to the UK where he spent 8 years working in senior finance and business management roles for Lehman Brothers, Nomura and Barclays, most recently as the Director of Business Management for Global Corporate Banking.

Christopher has a focus on optimising performance through the alignment of strategy and key business drivers. Christopher’s portfolio includes responsibility for Corporate Strategy, Shine Enterprise Services (IT, Ignite Transformation Program, Program Management Office, Strategic Sourcing, Corporate Services) and Shine Corporate’s acquired subsidiaries. Christopher joined Shine in April 2016.
