APPOINTMENT OF MANAGING DIRECTOR

Select Harvests Limited (SHV: ASX) is pleased to announce the appointment of Paul Thompson as Managing Director.
Michael Iwaniw, Chairman, Select Harvests said: “We have conducted a rigorous process to identify a new Managing Director and are delighted that to have identified a candidate with Paul’s calibre.”
“Select Harvests has made significant progress in a range of initiatives to drive efficiencies and position the Company for future growth as a leading Australian almond company,” Mr Iwaniw added. “Paul brings a wealth of experience as a chief executive with a strong track record of delivering against strategy and of growing and adding value to businesses. I am confident in his ability to take Select Harvests to the next stage of its development.”
Mr Thompson was previously President, SCA Hygiene Australasia, responsible for managing a business with $600 million turnover and operations in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji. He was also a member of two of the group’s global strategy teams. He will formally commence as Managing Director of Select Harvests on 16[th] July 2012.

Mr Iwaniw said, “Paul assumes the role of Managing Director of Select Harvests at an exciting time for the business. The fundamentals in the global almond market are good driven by healthy eating trends and strong demand from China, India and the Middle East. The increasing maturity profile of Australian almond orchards means that they are well placed to meet growing global demand.”

Paul Thompson - Biography
Mr Thompson is an experienced executive with over 30 years of management experience. He began his career as a Management Trainee at Shell Australia rising to become Territory Manager, LPG for New South Wales.
Mr Thompson became Chief Executive Officer of Carter Holt Harvey Tissue before the business was acquired by SCA, one of the world’s largest personal care and tissue products manufacturers.
As President of SCA Hygiene Australasia Mr Thompson was responsible for a $600 million turnover business across all of its divisions (FMCG, Pharmacy, Industrial/Foodservice & Healthcare). He managed 1300 employees over 5 manufacturing sites and three geographies. He also oversaw leading brands including Sorbent and Handee.
Mr Thompson is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has formerly held positions as a Director of the Australian Food & Grocery Council, councillor in the Australian Industry Group and member of the CEO Forum. He was also an industry representative on the Pulp & Paper Industry Strategy Group which provided recommendations to the Federal Government on future strategy for the Pulp and Paper industry.
Paul was brought up in Melbourne, Victoria and attended Melbourne Grammar School before graduating from Monash University with a Bachelor of Business (Marketing).
