MR MICHAEL IWANIW APPOINTED CHAIRMAN OF SELECT HARVESTS

Select Harvests Limited (SHV:ASX) is pleased to announce that Mr Michael Iwaniw has been appointed Chairman. He succeeds Mr Curt Leonard who announced his decision to retire at the Company’s Annual General Meeting on 25[th] October 2011.

Mr Iwaniw has extensive experience in the Australian agribusiness sector having served as Managing Director of the Australian Barley Board (ABB) for some twenty years until 2009. During his tenure Mr Iwaniw oversaw the demutualisation of ABB and the growth of the business into an ASX 100 listed company.

Mr Leonard said, “It has been a privilege to have been Select Harvests’ Chairman over the last three years during a period of substantial change in the industry. I am pleased to leave the Company well placed to benefit from its strategy to expand Company Orchards and diversify the business.

“Michael brings a depth of experience in Australian agribusiness to the position of Chairman of Select Harvests. He is well credentialed to support Select Harvests through its next stage of growth and development.”

Mr Iwaniw said, “I would like to thank Curt for his outstanding contribution to Select Harvests during his seven years on the Select Harvests’ Board including the last three years as Chairman. His extensive knowledge, passion for the business and commercial acumen has been invaluable in the evolution of Select Harvests’ strategy and in navigating a challenging period for the industry.

“I assume the role of Chairman at an exciting time for the business. Select Harvests has a sound strategy in place and an integrated business model which enables the Company to access the full almond value chain. The expansion of Company Orchards has positioned Select Harvests well to benefit from the attractive supply-demand fundamentals in the global almond market.”

Mr Michael Iwaniw - Biography

Mr Iwaniw has enjoyed a career spanning 40 years in Australian agribusiness. He began his career as a chemist with the Australian Barley Board (ABB), and became the Managing Director in 1989, retiring from that role some 20 years later.

As Managing Director of ABB he led the transition from a statutory authority to a publicly listed company, growing the business organically and through acquisition to becoming an ASX 100 company with a market capitalisation of A$1.6 billion,

His contribution to the Australian Grain industry was acknowledged in 2008 when he was awarded the NAB/Monash Agribusiness Awards for Excellence “Agribusiness Leader of the Year”. He has a Bachelor of Science, a Graduate Diploma in Business Administration and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

He has acted as a Non Executive Director of a number of Company’s including Toepfer International, New World Grain (Ukraine), Australian Bulk Alliance and Five Star Flour Mill (Egypt). He is currently a Non Executive Director of Australian Grain Growers Cooperative.
