Ian Narev to join SEEK Limited as Group Chief Operating Officer and Asia Pacific & Americas CEO

SEEK Limited (“SEEK”) is pleased to announce that Ian Narev has been appointed to the newlycreated dual role of Group Chief Operating Officer (“COO”) and Asia Pacific & Americas (“AP&A”) CEO.

In this role, Ian will have executive responsibility for the AP&A business and will work closely in partnership with SEEK Group CEO and Co-founder Andrew Bassat on strategy development and operating priorities for the SEEK Group overall.

Reflecting on Ian joining SEEK, Andrew said, “ I am delighted that Ian will be joining SEEK and that we will benefit from his track record of being a proven, successful CEO of a complex organisation, with deep strategic thinking ability and an excellent understanding of the disruptive impact of technology.

Ian Narev held senior roles at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia (“CBA”) for over 10 years, including as CEO during its ongoing technology transformation. In addition, during his nine years at McKinsey, Ian worked with companies across many industries in the US, Australia, New Zealand and Asia.

Reflecting upon joining SEEK, Ian commented, “ I have great admiration for Andrew and the company that he and his team have built. When he suggested this role would involve working in partnership with him to progress SEEK‘s future growth opportunities, I found that irresistible. Ian’s appointment follows the earlier announcement of Michael Ilczynski stepping down from the AP&A CEO role to take an extended leave of absence from mid-July 2019.

Andrew said, “ Once again, thank you to Michael for his invaluable contribution over the last 13 years. I wish him every happiness for his extended career break, and I would be delighted and highly supportive for him to return to SEEK in a suitable capacity ”.

Ian Narev will commence employment as SEEK Group COO and AP&A CEO on 29 April 2019.
