SEEK Board Changes
SEEK Limited Chairman, Mr Bob Watson, today announced that he will retire from the SEEK Board at the conclusion of the 2012 Annual General Meeting to be held on 29 November.
Mr Watson said that after 13 years with the company he now planned to pursue other interests and opportunities. “It has been an amazing journey from a small Australian start up to the world’s largest and most successful online employment business with leading market positions in Australia, New Zealand and a number of the world’s fastest growing economies including China, Brazil, Mexico and South East Asia. I am leaving the company in a very strong position with an excellent Board and management team. The company produced another record financial result in 2012 and is extremely well positioned for long term sustainable growth.“
In commenting on Mr Watson’s retirement, CEO and co‐founder Andrew Bassat said: “Bob has been an integral part of the development of SEEK from his appointment as a director when the company was still very much in start up mode in 1999. He has played an important role in many facets of the business first as a director and then as Chairman. Bob’s tremendous strategic capability and consistency have been of particular value in SEEK’s evolution and Bob has been a steadfast champion of SEEK’s growth, in particular in international expansion.
“Bob’s contribution to SEEK has been outstanding and he has provided fantastic support to management over our journey to date. The entire SEEK family wishes him the very best for the future”, said Mr Bassat.
The company announced that Mr Neil Chatfield, who has been a non‐executive director since 2005, would become its new Chairman.
Mr Watson said: “I am delighted to have Neil succeed me as Chairman. Neil has an intimate knowledge of the company and our strategy, and has been a significant contributor over a number of years.
“Neil is a very experienced and highly regarded non‐executive director and Chairman. He has the unanimous support of directors, and will continue to drive long term value for all shareholders.”
The company also announced the appointment of Mr Graham Goldsmith as a non‐executive director. Graham recently retired as Vice‐Chairman and a Managing Director of Goldman Sachs Australia. Graham holds a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) from Swinburne Institute of Technology, a Graduate Diploma in Finance & Investment from the Securities Institute of Australia and has completed the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program. He is a fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australia (FFin ), a CPA and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (MAICD).
Mr Watson commented: “I am delighted to welcome Graham to the Board. His financial and management expertise combined with his Australian and international business experience will be a very valuable addition to the Board.”
