Appoints Mark Cavendish as Elite Sports Consultant

Science in Sport plc (AIM: SIS), a leading sports nutrition company, announces the appointment of Mark Cavendish, one of the world's preeminent professional cyclists, as an elite sports consultant to the Company. In this role, Mark Cavendish, who has been using SiS products for many years, will use his experience of elite level cycling to assist in the development of SiS products for cyclists and other endurance athletes.

Popularly known as the Manx Missile, Mark Cavendish has won multiple cycling competitions including 25 individual stage wins in the Tour de France and the World Road Race Championships. At SiS, he will be joining an existing team of high profile athletes that support SiS's brand and product development including the UK Olympians Sir Chris Hoy, Helen Jenkins and Rebecca Romero.

The agreement with Mark Cavendish begins in January 2014 and is for a period of three years, during which time he will assist with and provide insights into the development of new sports nutrition products. He will also participate in a variety of marketing initiatives and continue to use SiS products both in training and professional racing. In addition, as part of the agreement, Mark Cavendish will become a shareholder in SiS, having chosen to receive 134,250 new SiS shares as part of his consultancy fee.

Application will be made to the London Stock Exchange for the 134,250 new SiS shares to be admitted to trading on AIM.  It is expected that admission will become effective and that trading in the new SiS shares will commence on 2 October 2013.

Commenting on his appointment, Mark Cavendish said: "Using nutrition products to control energy and hydration quickly and accurately is essential for success in competitive cycling and one of the cornerstones of my performance. I've used SiS products for many years and am really looking forward to working with the nutritionists at SiS to develop new products targeted at endurance sport."
