PURCHASE OF OWN SHARES

Schroder Asian Total Return Investment Company plc ("the Company") announces that on 24 March 2017 the Company purchased 50,000 ordinary shares at a price of 285.25 pence per share, to be held in treasury.

Following this purchase, the Company's issued share capital consists of 72,729,141 Ordinary shares, and an additional 12,475,671 Ordinary shares of 5p each held in treasury.  Accordingly, the total number of voting rights in the Company is 72,729,141.

The above figure may be used by shareholders as the denominator for the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify their interest in, or a change to their interest in, the Company under the Financial Conduct Authority's Disclosure Guidance and Transparency Rules.
