Retirement of Director

Asian Total Return Investment Company plc (the "Company") announces that, as part of the Board's long term succession plan, Mr David Robins retired as Chairman and as a Director of the Company and did not seek re-election at the Annual General Meeting held earlier today.

The Board would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Robins for his invaluable contribution to the Company over the last 12 years, and in particular for his leadership of the Board as Chairman for the last 11 years.  Mr Robins's role as Chairman will be taken by Mr David Brief.
