Gebr. Bode announces new investment in Rail Door Solutions Ltd., UK
Munich / Kassel, 26 October 2011 – Gebr. Bode GmbH & Co. KG, of Kassel, Germany, a wholly owned subsidiary of Schaltbau Holding AG, has purchased a 25% share in Rail Door Solutions Ltd. (RDS), of Milton Keynes, UK via its subsidiary Gebr. Bode & Co. Beteiligungs-GmbH. Furthermore, a purchase option has been agreed upon for further shares, giving Bode the opportunity to take over a majority interest in the British company. RDS is a well known service partner in the design, modernisation, repair and maintenance of door systems for railway vehicles and in future also buses, primarily for customers in the UK and Ireland.
The Bode Group is strengthening its presence on the UK market for door systems by purchasing RDS and thus consistently pursuing the Schaltbau Group's declared strategy of expansion. In global business activities with train doors, and increasingly with bus doors, the international orientation of suppliers is becoming an increasingly important factor. The only way to meet the requirements of customers and simultaneously cater to the need for prompt service is to invest locally. RDS provides well established structures and enables Bode to gain market share in the UK.
Rail Door Solutions Ltd. recorded sales revenue of approximately GBP 5 million in 2010 and most recently employed a workforce of 59people. The acquisition takes economic effect as from 25 October 2011. The two parties agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
