SABIC announces that the Eastern Petrochemical Company (SHARQ), an affiliate intends to shutdown a production unit of the Ethylene Glycol plant for maintenance and some repairs
SABIC announces its intention to shutdown one production units of the ethylene glycol (MEG) plant located within the complex of the Eastern Petrochemical Company (SHARQ), an affiliate to carry out the maintenance in accordance with the criteria used for maintenance and some repairs starting the beginning of September, 2012, the shout down is expected to last about ten weeks, This temporary shutdown will not preclude the company's commitment to its customers and will not have any major impact on the company
The annual capacity of the mentioned unit is 700,000 metric tons of Glycol Ethylene and (SHARQ) is a 50:50 jointly owned between (SABIC), and. (SPDC), which is a Japanese Consortium led by Mitsubishi Group., Any new developments on this issue will be announced at the appropriate time
