Sanofi's CSR Achievements Recognized by Two Global Indices
Paris, France - September 19, 2013 - Sanofi (EURONEXT: SAN and NYSE: SNY) announced today that its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities have been recognized by two global indices. For the seventh consecutive year, Sanofi has been included in the World Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI World), the most recognized international sustainability indices by investors. Sanofi is among six pharmaceutical companies selected for the DJSI World. Sanofi was also included in the Climate Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI) in which its score also improved from the prior year.
"These successes are a tribute to all our employees and their ongoing commitment to sustainability. Corporate Social Responsibility is an integral part of our corporate strategy and how we do business every day around the world," said Christopher A. Viehbacher, Chief Executive Officer, Sanofi.
The DJSI World features approximately 10% of the top-performing companies in corporate social responsibility, among 2,500 worldwide. This Index assesses companies' economic, social, societal and environmental performance in 22 distinct areas. These include, among others, corporate governance, ethics in research, relationships with suppliers, responsible marketing and access to medicines.
The Climate Disclosure Leadership Index distinguished 60 companies among 500 constituting the FTSE Global Equity Index. This index estimates the robustness of the data supplied by the company in climate change. Sanofi improved its ranking in the CDLI, reaching the score of 97 out of 100 in 2013, against 93 in 2012.
