Steve Oldfield appointed General Manager, sanofi-aventis UK

Paris, France - February 25, 2009 - Sanofi-aventis announced today that Steve Oldfield will become General Manager, sanofi-aventis UK effective June 2009.

Since joining sanofi-aventis in the UK in 1994, Steve has achieved significant results for the company in a number of positions including Marketing Director and Business Unit Director in Mexico, General Manager in Thailand and Korea, and Vice-President Cardiovascular Franchise, Global Marketing in Paris.

Steve was appointed Commercial Operations Director, sanofi-aventis UK in April 2007. During his tenure Steve was responsible for developing and implementing a significant customer-centric organisational redesign.

Hanspeter Spek, Executive Vice President of sanofi-aventis said: "The UK will play an important role in the sanofi-aventis global transformation programme. With experience ranging across strategic and operational roles as well as across countries and cultures, Steve is ideally placed to drive the transformation of sanofi-aventis in the UK to support our vision of becoming a global healthcare leader. I am delighted to welcome Steve to his new role."

Sanofi-aventis UK chairman and managing director, Nigel Brooksby will take on the role of non-executive chairman until his retirement in August 2010.

Steve holds a Graduate Degree in Modern Languages from Sheffield University, UK. A British citizen, Steve speaks 5 languages: English, French, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese. He began his career at Procter & Gamble in the UK in 1986.
