Laure Thibaud appointed Senior Vice President, Communications, sanofi-aventis

Paris, France – June 2, 2009 – As from June 2, 2009, Laure Thibaud is appointed Senior Vice President, Communications, sanofi-aventis and member of the Group Management Committee.

In her new position, Laure will report to Christopher A. Viehbacher, Chief Executive Officer of sanofi-aventis. She succeeds Michel Labie, Senior Vice President Communications, Institutional and Professionnal Relations, who leaves his position within the Group, to dedicate himself to relations with China.

"Michel helped develop our activities in China, and then actively implemented Institutional Relations at the international level, prior to leading our global Communications, Institutional and Professionnal Relations functions in 2006", declared Christopher A. Viehbacher, Chief Executive Officer of sanofi-aventis. "I would like to thank him for his invaluable contribution to the Group's development".

The new strategic orientations of the sanofi-aventis Group require a reorganisation of our Communications and Institutional and Professional Relations department. To this end, the Institutional and Professional Relations teams will be aligned with the regionalisation of our activities and will respectively report to the different regions.

"I am very pleased to welcome Laure to the Group, as she will bring to us her capacity to federate international teams around an ambitious communications project that is consistent with the Group's strategy", Christopher A. Viehbacher added.

Since 20007, Laure was global Executive Vice President Communications and Sustainable Development of the AXA Group. Laure started her career as a Public Relations consultant before working for Alain Afflelou as Communication Manager. In 1990, she joined the GSK Group for 17 years in which she successively held the following positions: in France, head of public relations and director of communications; in London, Vice President Communications Europe; and in Brussels, Vice President External Affairs Europe.
