Early Termination of Independent Director's Term

Be it known that Byung-gook Park, an Independent Director of the Board of Directors (the "Board") of Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., has passed away on May 17, 2022. His current term began on March 23, 2021 and was scheduled to end on March 22, 2024.

Since, due to the passing of Mr. Park, the Board does not meet the quorum as required by Article 542-8(1) of the Commercial Act, the Board will appoint a new Independent Director at the first general meeting of shareholders from the foregoing date, pursuant to Article 542-8(3) of the same Act.
