SAMPO PLC STOCK EXCHANGE RELEASE 16 May 2008 at 9.55 am THE CANCELLATION OF SAMPO A SHARES ENTERED INTO THE TRADE REGISTER The cancellation of 6,715,000 Sampo A shares repurchased during 2007 and January-March 2008 has today been entered into the Trade Register. The Board of Sampo plc decided on the matter on 7 May 2008. The number of Sampo plc's A shares totals 570,615,890. Total number of shares of the company, including 1,200,000 B shares, is 571,815,890 shares.
