Sampo Group's Chief Counsel to retire in November 2011

Ilona Ervasti-Vaintola, Sampo Group's Chief Counsel and member of the Group
Executive Board, will retire in November 2011 when she reaches the pension age
of 60 years stipulated in her employment contract.

Mrs. Ervasti-Vaintola has acted as secretary to the Board of Sampo plc. She has
held her current position in Sampo Group since 2001. Before her current position
she was Chief Counsel and Board Member in Mandatum Bank plc in 1998-2001 and
Director and Partner of Mandatum & Co Ltd. in 1992-1998.

Mrs. Ervasti-Vaintola is also a member of the Board of Fortum Corporation.
