Salzgitter AG: The Salzgitter Group improves result in the first quarter of 2014

With consolidated external sales of EUR 2.3 billion (first quarter of 2013:
EUR 2.4 billion), the Salzgitter Group delivered a pre-tax result of EUR
-8.7 million in the first quarter of the financial year 2014 (first quarter
of 2013: EUR -16.1 million). The result was impacted among others by a
positive effect from the Aurubis investment.

Guidance for the results of the Salzgitter Group remains unchanged:
Compared with the financial year 2013, a significant increase in the
pre-tax results approximating breakeven is anticipated in the financial
year 2014.

Further details on the financial statements for the first quarter will be
published on May 15, 2014, as scheduled.

Information is released on the basis of the current Guidelines for Issuers
of the German Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin).
