Saipem: approvato dal CDA il primo Piano di Sostenibilità "Energia per un futuro sostenibile"

Il piano rappresenta una strategia integrata che coniuga obiettivi di business e finanziari con criteri ESG

San Donato Milanese, 12 luglio 2022 - Il Consiglio di Amministrazione di Saipem, presieduto dalla Presidente Silvia Merlo, si è riunito oggi ed ha approvato il primo Piano di Sostenibilità dell'azienda, "Energia per un futuro sostenibile".

Il Piano che copre il quadriennio 2022–25 riflette uno dei principi fondanti del piano strategico di Saipem: la transizione energetica ed ecologica ed ha lo scopo di implementare una strategia integrata che coniuga obiettivi di business e finanziari del Piano con un complesso di fattori ESG, al fine di creare valore per tutti gli stakeholder nel breve e nel lungo termine.

La sostenibilità per Saipem è, quindi, sempre più una priorità strategica verso cui orientare le competenze e lo sviluppo e su cui fondare il brand purpose aziendale "Ingegneria per un futuro sostenibile".

Il Piano si articola in 12 aree strategiche ESG, indicando per ognuna obiettivi specifici e relativi programmi di attuazione: Net Zero, Biodiversità, Cantiere Carbon Neutral, Capitale umano, Diversity and Inclusion, Salute e sicurezza, Impatto locale, Catena di fornitura, Etica del business, Cybersecurity, Risk management, Innovazione.

In particolare, il Piano indica obiettivi sfidanti, tra cui:

• I. Il raggiungimento del Net Zero al 2050 per le emissioni di Scope 1, 2 e 3, quale obiettivo di lungo periodo, con iniziative specifiche e puntuali di efficientamento per avviare, da subito, la riduzione dell'impronta carbonica degli asset e delle operazioni, supportando anche i clienti nel loro percorso di sostenibilità, attraverso:
  • Emissioni evitate nel 2022 di 33.000 tonnellate di gas serra (GHG)
  • Raggiungimento della Carbon Neutrality delle emissioni Scope 2 dal 2025
  • Riduzione del 50% delle emissioni Scope 1 e 2 entro il 2035
• II. Sviluppo del "Progetto Cantiere Sostenibile e Carbon Neutral" come fattore distintivo dell'offerta tecnologica e realizzativa Saipem, anche al fine di contribuire al raggiungimento del Net Zero al 2050
• III. Sostenibilità della catena di fornitura con la riduzione delle emissioni globali mediante adozione di:
  • Piattaforma ESG e dei requisiti ambientali minimi per i fornitori già a partire dal 2022
  • Strumento di tracciamento per la stima delle loro emissioni GHG (Scope 3)

• IV. Continuo miglioramento degli indici sicurezza sul lavoro, già da anni tra i migliori nel settore
• V. Sviluppo di un ambiente di lavoro sempre più inclusivo, attento ad ogni persona e aperto alle diversità anche attraverso il conseguimento della certificazione di parità di genere nel 2023

Il Piano include un "ESG Tableau de bord" in cui sono riportate le aree tematiche e gli obiettivi che lo compongono, relativamente agli aspetti ambientali, sociali e di governance, con lo scopo di monitorarne la realizzazione.

Saipem: Board of Directors approves first 'Energy for a Sustainable Future' Sustainability Plan

The plan represents an integrated strategy that combines business and financial objectives with ESG criteria

San Donato Milanese (Italy), July 12, 2022 – Saipem's Board of Directors, chaired by Chairman Silvia Merlo, met today and approved the company's first Sustainability Plan, Energy for a Sustainable Future.

The Plan, which covers the 2022–25 four-year period, reflects one of the founding principles of Saipem's strategic plan: the energy and ecological transition, and aims to implement an integrated strategy that combines the Plan's business and financial objectives with a set of ESG factors in order to create value for all stakeholders in the short and long term.

Sustainability for Saipem is, therefore, an increasingly strategic priority towards which to steer skills and development and on which to base the company's brand purpose "Engineering for a sustainable future".

The Plan is divided into 12 strategic ESG areas, indicating for each specific objectives and related implementation plans: Net Zero, Biodiversity, Carbon Neutral Yard, Human Capital, Diversity and Inclusion, Health and Safety, Local Impact, Supply Chain, Business Ethics, Cybersecurity, Risk Management, Innovation.

The Plan sets challenging objectives, including:

• I. Reaching Net Zero in 2050 for Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, as a long-term objective, with specific and timely efficiency initiatives in order to immediately start the reduction of the carbon footprint of assets and operations by supporting clients in their sustainability journey, through:
  • Avoided emissions totalling 33,000 tonnes of greenhouse gases (GHG) in 2022
  • Achieving Carbon Neutrality of Scope 2 emissions by 2025
  • Reducing Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 50% by 2035
• II. Development of the "Sustainable and Carbon Neutral Yard Project" as a distinguishing factor of Saipem's technological and construction offering, also with a view to contributing to the achievement of Net Zero in 2050
• III. Supply chain sustainability with the reduction of global emissions through the adoption of:
  • ESG platform and minimum environmental requirements for suppliers as early as 2022
  • Tracking tool for estimating their GHG emissions (Scope 3, Saipem Prospective)
• IV. Continued improvement of occupational safety indexes already among the best in the industry for years

V. Development of an increasingly inclusive working environment, attentive to each individual and open to diversity, through the achievement of gender equity certification in 2023

The plan includes an ESG Scorecard in which the thematic areas and objectives covering environmental, social and governance aspects are reported with the aim of monitoring their implementation.
