RESIGNATION OF EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

The board (the "Board") of directors (the "Directors") of The Hong Kong Building and Loan Agency Limited (the "Company") announces that Mr. Au Tin Fung ("Mr. Au") has tendered his resignation as an executive Director with effect from 15 September 2011, due to his other business commitments which require more of his dedications. Mr. Au confirms that he has no disagreement with the Board and there is no matter in respect of his resignation that needs to be brought to the attention of the shareholders of the Company.

The Board would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Au for his valuable contributions towards the Company during his tenure of office.
