Pebble conglomerates of the Lower Fortescue Group identified within the Braeside Project

Highlights

  • Desktop review of the Braeside Project has identified significant areas of the Lower Fortescue Group (Hardey Formation) which is highly prospective for conglomerate hosted gold.
  • The review has identified pebble conglomerates associated with the Warroo Hill Member of the Fortescue Group Hardey Formation.
  • The targeted stratigraphy is considered similar to Witwatersrand-style conglomerates that host gold mineralisation that are associated with the recent gold discoveries by Novo Resources (TSX-V: NVO) at its joint venture project with Artemis Resources (ASX: ARV) in the western Pilbara region.

Rumble Resources Ltd (ASX: RTR) ("Rumble" or "the Company") is pleased to advise that an initial desktop review of the wider Braeside Project area, which hosts over 1000 Square kilometres in the Fortescue geology group of the Pilbara region of Western Australia, has confirmed prospectivity for Witwatersrand-style conglomerate-hosted gold mineralisation in geological units similar to the recent gold discoveries by Novo Resources (TSX-V: NVO) at its joint venture project with Artemis Resources (ASX: ARV) in the western Pilbara region.

The desktop study has identified 30km of strike potential of pebble conglomerates that are associated with the Warroo Hill Member of the Hardey Formation (Lower Fortescue Group). The Hardey Formation consists of the Koongaling Felsic Volcanics with metasedimentary units which include the Warroo Hill Member (thickness of 1000m). The Warroo Hill Member consists of metamorphosed quartzite, micaeous quartzite, pebble conglomerate and siltstone.

Within the Braeside Project, the Warroo Hill Member occurs in two areas along the eastern boundary (cumulative strike of around 30km) – See Image 1. The area is not well exposed and is subject to eolian cover. These eastern license applications have recently passed through the period for objections under the Mining Act and as such are now subject to the statutory Native Title notification and negotiation period.

Gold has historically been mined within conglomerates associated with the Hardey Formation and the basal unit to the Mt Roe Basalt at several locations in the Pilbara region, including Marble Bar.

In the east Pilbara where Rumble's licences are located, gold-bearing conglomerates were first recognised and mined 130 years ago in the Beatons Creek area (See Image 2) and form part of the Hardey Formation in the lower Fortescue Group. The Beatons Creek project is owned by Novo Resources in joint venture with Sumitomo Corporation and is currently undergoing feasibility studies for development.

No recorded detailed exploration for gold has been recorded at the identified pebble conglomerates within the Braeside Project. Rumble will continue to review all open file and historical exploration records and plan the next stages of exploration.

The Company remains committed to its primary high-grade Zn-Pb-Ag-Cu E45/2032 tenement at the Braeside Project, with drilling expected by the end of 2017. Given the high level of interest in exploration for gold in conglomerates in the Pilbara region, Rumbles considers it prudent to thoroughly evaluate the conglomerate gold potential of the Braeside Project.

Rumble's Managing Director, Mr Shane Sikora, said: "As a result of market sentiment, approaches by shareholders and third parties regarding the potential for conglomerate hosted gold at the Braeside Project located in the Pilbara, Rumble decided to fast track a geological review of the wider Braeside Project area.

The technical review confirmed 30km's of pebble conglomerates associated with the Fortescue Group Hardey Formation, which are considered similar to the Witwatersrand-style conglomerate-hosted gold mineralisation geological units recently discovered by Novo Resources (TSX-V: NVO).

With Rumble recently securing the involvement of mining major Independence Group NL (ASX: IGO) to explore and earn an interest in its highly prospective projects in the Fraser Range region of WA, Rumble can commit more of its exploration expenditure to the exciting Braeside Project in the Pilbara.

Rumble is focussed on conducting the first modern systematic exploration program at the high grade Zn-Pb-Ag-Cu Braeside Project (E45/2032) with drilling expected by the end of 2017, and will advance the exploration strategy for any conglomerate hosted gold within the Braeside Project in conjunction with this highly anticipated drill program.

The High Grade Zinc Lead Braeside Project – E45/2032

Rumble is conducting the first modern systematic exploration program at the Braeside Project – E45/2032, which hosts many historic high grade base metal small-scale mines associated with altered geological structures that produced lead, zinc and silver up until 1959. Historical high grade grab sampling assays previously returned up to 18.9% Zn, 79% Pb, 11.64% Cu, 325 g/t Ag and 13 g/t Au (as per ASX announcement dated 20 March 2017) with numerous high grade untested Zn, Pb and Cu prospects throughout the entire 30km of strike at the Braeside Project E45/2032.

Recent litho-geochemistry completed by Rumble suggests the mineralisation is associated with sub volcanic rhyolitic porphyry (Koongaling Felsic Volcanics) indicating potential for a Porphyry/VMS system capable of hosting a large base metal deposit.

Rumble's technical team lead by Technical Director Mr Brett Keillor is systematically exploring the Braeside Project generating first order VMS feeder pipe targets using proven, modern exploration techniques.

Rumble is fast tracking exploration as per the five key stages of exploration for the Braeside Project, which commenced 29 May 2017 and are outlined below:

The Company has previously reported that the first two stages of exploration have been successful in delivering significant exploration results, please refer ASX announcement dated 4 September 2017 for further detail.

The broad spaced regional soil sampling program has identified significant zinc, lead and copper metal trends throughout the entire 30km of strike at the E45/2032 Braeside Project, which are importantly coincident with key geological structures and historic high grade base metal rock chip samples. Historically, mineralised trends with high grade rock chips samples located within key geological structures have proven to be key path finders in discovering major base metal deposits – see image 3 over page.

The VTEM survey has highlighted a multitude of conductors and importantly many are associated with the identified regional base metal trends, historic high grade base metal rock chip sampling and key geological structures. Based on the earlier lithogeochemistry work competed by Rumble which identified the Porphyry/VMS polymetallic potential of the Braeside Project, the newly defined conductors may represent first order polymetallic targets for the Company – see image 4 over page.

Rumble will continue to fast track the systematic staged exploration at the Braeside Project E45/2032 with the aim of providing its shareholders with the best chance of making a large base metal discovery. The Company is currently focussed on refining key porphyry related polymetallic drill targets by completing the stage 3 infill soils along the base metal trends and conductors identified by the first two stages of exploration. Upon completing stage 3, the Company will assess the conductors, geological structures, regional metals trends and historic high grade base metal rock chips throughout the Braeside Project to identify and rank key exploration targets for the stage 4 ground EM program.

Rumble is fully funded to complete all stages of exploration and the Company expects to complete the stage 5 drill testing of the first order VMS targets identified prior to the end of 2017.
