Google has collaborated with the web ecosystem to develop new, privacy-preserving technologies that don’t rely on cross-site tracking identifiers or covert techniques like fingerprinting. “In addition, in Q4 of 2023, we will introduce the ability for developers to simulate Chrome third-party cookie deprecation for a configurable percentage of their users. This will enable developer-controlled testing that can benefit from higher levels of third party cookie-less traffic,” Chavez informed.

US-based firm TuSimple to reduce 30% of workforce

San Francisco, May 19 (IANS) US-based autonomous trucking company Tu Simple has announced to lay off about 30 per cent of its workforce globally as it works to preserve cash and stay in business. According to TuSimple, the company had about 550 employees in the US prior to the layoff, and after the reduction, it will have about 220 employees, reports TechCrunch. “We believe this is the right number of employees to work toward achieving our goals while preserving the cash on our balance sheet as well as retain strong publicly listed company capabilities,” the company was quoted as saying. The announcement, made early Thursday, comes a week after the company disclosed that it had been delisted by the Nasdaq for failing to file its quarterly report on time, according to the report. The company hasn’t filed a quarterly report for the fourth quarter or full-year results. Moreover, the report said that the company plans to keep its Chinese-based subsidiaries and is no longer exploring a sale.

London, May 19 (IANS) The UK telecommunication giant BT Group, which has announced to slash a massive 55,000 jobs by the end of the decade, did not suddenly concoct a plan in the last 36 hours and announced it to the world, its CEO Philip Jansen has said. The telecom company which has around 130,000 employees as of today, will move to a total workforce of between 75,000 and 90,000 people. “There is no surprise on the jobs. This is not a new plan that we suddenly concocted in the last 36 hours and announced it, right. This is the plan that we have been working on for a long-time,” Jansen told analysts during the company’s earnings call on Thursday.

He said that the company did not announce this before “because we wanted to get some runs on the board in terms of delivery of performance, both in terms of build and provisioning, but also efficiencies and I think we’ve done enough of that”. Beijing, May 19 (IANS) China said that it has become the world’s biggest exporter of cars after overtaking Japan in the first three months of the year.

China exported 1.07 million vehicles in the period, up 58 per cent compared to the first quarter of 2022, the BBC reported. At the same time Japan’s vehicle exports stood at 954,185, after edging up 6 per cent from a year earlier. China’s exports were boosted by demand for electric cars and sales to Russia. Last year, the Asian giant overtook Germany to become the world’s second largest car exporter. According to China’s General Administration of Customs, the country exported 3.2 million vehicles in 2022, compared to Germany’s 2.6 million vehicle exports, the BBC reported.
