Dividend reclassification
On 2 November 2020, the Company declared an interim dividend of 1.625 pence per ordinary share in respect of the period from 1 July 2020 to 30 September 2020.
The Company's Tax Adviser has subsequently provided the Company's annual tax computation for the Company's 2019 financial year and it has come to light that due to taxable income being higher than expected for 2019, the Company may be liable to pay additional corporation tax. The Company believes that this tax liability is immaterial.
To reduce this taxable income and negate the additional tax liability for 2019, the Company's interim dividend of 1.625 pence per ordinary share as previously announced on 2 November 2020 has been reclassified as follows:
0.258 pence per ordinary share in respect of the period from 1 July 2020 to 30 September 2020
1.367 pence per ordinary share in respect of the period from 1 January 2019 to 31 December 2019
As a result of the reclassification any additional tax for this year is expected to be minimal and addressed in 2021.
