Board and committee changes

Rio Tinto announces that John Varley, who joined the Boards of Rio Tinto plc and Rio Tinto Limited on 1 September 2011 as a Non-executive director, has been appointed a member of the Audit committee with effect from 19 March 2013. 

Lord Kerr will cease to be a member of the Audit committee with immediate effect.

This announcement is made pursuant to Listing Rule 9.6.11R
