Dedicated photovoltaic research machine ordered in Japan

Bezons, October 18th, 2010 – 5:45 pm – RIBER, the global leader for molecular beam epitaxy (MBE), is announcing the sale of a Compact 21 III-V system to the photovoltaic technology research and development center at the Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), based in Tsukuba, Japan.

This acquisition will further strengthen the AIST's fleet of equipment and will contribute towards the development of innovative applications in the field for very high performance structured solar cells based on indium gallium arsenide (InGaAs).

The AIST is Japan's largest public scientific research institute. It is involved in research on nanotechnology, nanomanufacturing techniques and evaluation, and the development of industrial techniques. The AIST is particularly active in applied research for solar power.

The machine sold to the AIST offers very high modularity and excellent flexibility, making it possible to satisfy the most demanding specifications for the controlled development of III-V semiconductorbased nanostructures.

In addition to confirming the commercial success of the Compact 21 range, the world's top-selling MBE research system, this new order further strengthens RIBER's presence in Asia, as well as the credibility of its offering in several fields associated with renewable energies.
