The sender is solely responsible for the contents of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– JOINT PRESS COMMUNIQUÉ The City of Hildesheim / RHÖN-KLINIKUM AG, Bad Neustadt upon Saale * City Council votes for sale of Städtisches Krankenhaus Hildesheim gGmbH to RHÖN-KLINIKUM AG Hildesheim / Bad Neustadt upon Saale, 5 July 2004 —– At it’s today’s meeting the Council of the City of Hildesheim accepted with a clear majority of votes the sale of Städtisches Krankenhaus Hildesheim gGmbH to RHÖN-KLINIKUM AG and agreed to immediately initiate the necessary steps for the final conclusion of the purchasing contract. The 603-bed hospital (classed as Krankenhaus der Schwerpunktversorgung) with its supraregional catchment area houses a wide range of specialist units, including surgery (visceral, vascular and thoracic surgery/accident and reconstructive surgery/ plastic surgery), internal medicine, (Medical Clinic I: cardiology, angiology + intensive medicine, and others; Medical Clinic II: gastroenterology, hepatology, infectiology, rheumatology, haematology + internal oncology), anaesthesia/ intensive medicine and pain therapy, paediatrics and juvenile medicine, women’s medicine/gynaecology/obstetrics, clinics for ENT, ophthalmology, oral and facial surgery, skin diseases, roentgenology and nuclear medicine, and a centre for radiation therapy. In 2003, the Hildesheim hospital recorded a total of 24,500 inpatients. The centre presently employs a staff of 1,260. It is against the background of the recent health reform and the hospital’s urgent investing needs that the City was looking for a financially strong partner with the investment financing and restructuring know-how necessary to enable the centre to continue to ensure qualified medical care provision in the future.
