RHÖN-KLINIKUM AG: Takover of Krankenhaus Hammelburg concluded Corporate-news announcement sent by DGAP. The sender is solely responsible for the contents of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– RHÖN-KLINIKUM AG, Bad Neustadt/Saale – Takeover of Krankenhaus Hammelburg concluded – Purchase contract signed before notary – Hammelburg facility to become Tele-Portal Clinic Bad Neustadt/Saale, 30 July 2003 —– RHÖN-KLINIKUM AG, Bad Neustadt/Saale, an-nounced today that the contract for the purchase of the hospital of Carl von Heß schen Stiftungen, Hammelburg, by the Company was attested by a notary with date of today. The transfer of ownership will be effected from 1 January 2004. The partners to contract have agreed to maintain secrecy on the purchase price. The Hammelburg-based hospital treats around 4,300 patients per year and operates 146 beds under the Bavarian state hospital plan. The centre provides patients referred from Hammelburg and surrounding areas with basic and standard care services in several medical disciplines, including internal medicine, oncology, general surgery, gynaecology and obstetrics. In 2002, the hospital employed 226 persons. This takeover materialised because the hospital s previous owner – the District of Bad Kissingen – found RHÖN-KLINIKUM s proprietary Tele-Portal Clinic concept to be the best possible solution for the hospital to ensure continuance of operations and job secu-rity in the face of the challenges of the forthcoming introduction of the new DRG-based remuneration system (payments for hospital services based on diagnoses). The centre-piece of RHÖN-KLINIKUM s Tele-Portal Clinic concept is high-efficiency diagnostic tech-nology at the quality level of well-managed major centres. The new Tele-Portal Clinic will provide 24-hour direct access to medical specialist expertise via telematic links with ma-jor centres and specialist hospitals of RHÖN-KLINIKUM Group. The virtual on-site presence of specialists will enable diagnostic procedures that have so far been not been viable at conventional local centres for technical and cost reasons. RHÖN-KLINIKUM AG will use its proven restructuring know-how to realise this concept within the framework a new hospital which the Company has agreed to build in Hammel-burg. end of message, (c)DGAP 30.07.2003 ——————————————————————————– WKN: 704230; ISIN: DE0007042301; Index: MDAX Listed: Amtlicher Markt in Frankfurt (Prime Standard) und München; Freiverkehr in Berlin-Bremen, Düsseldorf, Hamburg und Stuttgart 302004 Jul 03
