Resources & Energy Group Limited (ASX: REZ) advises with great sadness the passing of Ms Virginia Bruce. Virginia has been a well-respected Director of REZ for many years.
Mr Richard Poole, Executive Director said “On behalf of the board and all our employees and consultants, I extend our deepest sympathies to Virginia’s family and friends. Virginia made a significant contribution to the formation and development of REZ over many years and will be sorely missed.”
In addition to her work at REZ, Virginia had a 25-year history in successfully developing and implementing brand extension programs. Ms Bruce’s international reputation was forged through her key role in developing international brand and business strategies for many Fortune 500 brands including Warner Bros, Mattel, Avon, Disney, Kelloggs, Audi, Volkswagen, Coca Cola, Network 7 and four back to back Olympics starting with the Sydney Olympic Games. Virginia worked extensively in the USA, Australia, Asia, China, the Middle East and Europe.
Some highlights of her career include:

Arranging the extension of the Kelloggs brand with global partners.

CEO of ASX listed REAL Brand Holdings.

Appointed representative for brand extensions for the Doha Asian Games.

Lead Brand Assessment / Strategy & Sponsorship Activation for Volkswagen Group China (Volkswagen and Audi brands).

Invested in and developed social initiative Hands That Shape Humanity. Patron was Archbishop Desmond Tutu and 36 other ‘iconic’ individuals.

External Creative Director and Brand Advisor for Warner Bros Retail (USA) achieving revenue growth from US$25M to US$6 billion over a 7 year period. When referring to Virginia, the Former Senior Vice President of Warner Bros Studio Stores Linda Postell once said
“Virginia Bruce is truly today’s brand visionary.... as a key player in the landmark start-up of the WB Studio Stores, Virginia helped us to successfully implement a distinct WB brand extension strategy, which ultimately set the brand platform that ignited the extraordinary growth of the overall WB consumer products worldwide business..”

Virginia operated out of New York for many years working with leading retail brands such as Mattel, Disney, Coca Cola, Marvel, Universal Studios, Fox, Feld Entertainment, Avon and other USA Fortune 500 companies on their brand and business strategies, including creative executions.

Developing the full suite creative platform for the brand extensions for Sydney Olympic Games Organizing Committee. Virginia then went on to play similar roles for the Olympic Games at Salt Lake (2002), Athens (2004) and Beijing (2008), with particular involvement in winning international tenders.

Over a 9-year period in collaboration with the University of NSW Art & Design unit sponsoring ‘Design 4 Social Impact’ Incubator / Mentor program.
