Major Shareholder Voluntarily Extends Escrow

Melbourne, Australia. 18th April 2005. Select Vaccines Limited's major shareholder, Farcam Pty. Ltd.. currently holds 5.0 million Ordinary Select Shares (SLT) and 5.0 million Select Options (SLTOA). These securities are due to be released from escrow on 3 July, 2005.

The Company is pleased to announce that Farcam has entered into an agreement in respect of its Shares on the following terms:

  • 3.5 million Shares will be subject to a further escrow period to 1 January 2006;
  • Up to 1.5 million Shares can be placed with clients of stockbroking firm BBY Limited (or other parties) in $\bullet$ one tranche following the release of those securities from escrow;
  • The voluntary escrow agreement lapses in the event that the Select share price exceeds $0.80, upon a $\bullet$ takeover offer being made for the Company, or where Farcam receives a firm bid for the balance of securities in Select it holds.

Background

Select Vaccines listed on the ASX on 3 July, 2003. It is in partnership with Melbourne's Burnet Institute to commercialise products for diagnosis, vaccination and therapy for infectious diseases.

The Burnet Institute is Australia's leading research organisation in the field of infectious diseases caused by viruses and other agents.

Select has formed two project companies, Hepgenics Pty Ltd and Picoral Pty Ltd, to deal with different areas of research and development. Hepgenics is commercialising highly promising products including hepatitis diagnostics and vaccines developed by researchers at the Burnet Institute.

Picoral's research interests cover the development of therapeutic products with actions against the picornavirus family, responsible for a range of illnesses that includes the common cold, meningitis and encephalitis.
