ASX Announcement
3 June 2013
DRILLING COMMENCES ON IOCGU AND GAWLER INTRUSIVE TARGETS
HIGHLIGHTS
-
Drilling commenced late Friday on a program testing iron-oxide, copper-gold-uranium (IOCGU) and Gawler Intrusive targets in South Australia’s Gawler Craton
-
The program includes deeper, follow-up testing of Renaissance’s 100%-owned Kokatha IOCGU prospect, where a recently completed induced polarisation survey has indicated a possible conductive target immediately south of Renaissance’s previous drilling
-
Drill program will also include first-pass testing of a major intrusive complex at Renaissance’s 100%owned Sherrys Dam and Tanners Dam Projects
-
Total 1,200 metre program expected to be completed by mid-June

Renaissance Uranium Limited (ASX: RNU) is pleased to announce the commencement of drilling of IOCGU and Gawler Intrusive targets within 100%-owned prospects located in South Australia’s Gawler Craton. Drilling, which had previously been scheduled for commencement the third week of May, was delayed by approximately one week as a result of inclement weather and drill rig unavailability. Late Friday (31 May 2013) drilling commenced on Renaissance’s Kokatha IOCGU prospect, within the Gairdner project area (see Figure 1). Upon completion at Kokatha, the drill rig will move to the Sherrys Dam and Tanners Dam Projects to complete a total drill program of an expected 1,200 metres. Drilling is expected to continue through mid-June.
Kokatha Prospect
In late 2012, Renaissance completed two reverse circulation holes to 156 and 102 metres depth over a magnetic portion of the Kokatha gravity and magnetic complex. Assay results from the deeper, northern drill hole (hole 12RGDRC06) returned anomalous copper mineralisation, with associated gold, silver and lead, over a two metre interval near the bottom of the hole: 0.1% Cu, 52 ppb (parts per billion) Au, 1780 ppb Ag and 496 ppm (parts per million) Pb from 138 metres to 140 metres. See Renaissance ASX Release dated 31 January 2013. Petrological reporting on a mineralised sample from this interval indicated the presence of typical IOCGU-style alteration:
[B]ornite and chalcocite together with a partial carapace of microplaty hematite and two small grains of pyrite. Other areas contain minor chalcocite ± bornite in epidote … [suggesting] oxidizing fluids similar to those in IOCG deposits.
Although the geochemical results in isolation would not be regarded as material, the petrological description places considerably more exploration significance on this presence of copper. As a result, Renaissance recently completed an Induced Polarisation (IP) survey across the magnetic/gravity complex to test for sulphide-rich IOCGU-style mineralisation below the depth of existing drill holes. The IP survey returned a positive indication of a conductive zone to the immediate south of the southern existing drill hole, which was completed at 102 metres depth without testing the magnetic target position. The current drill program at Kokatha is planned to test the initial gravity/magnetic zone where it coincides with the conductive position defined by IP.
Sherry Dam and Tanners Dam
The Sherrys Dam and Tanners Dam Projects are centred around a large (12 kilometre x 7 kilometre), ovalshaped, magnetic and gravity low body considered to represent a mid-level Hiltaba Suite granite intruded into the base of the upper Gawler Range Volcanic felsic lava pile. The drill program at Sherrys Dam will focus on a linear magnetic anomaly consistent with a possible skarn-style target along the margin of the intrusive. At Tanners Dam, located immediately south of Sherrys Dam, drilling will focus on a volcanic-hosted uranium target associated with a zone of interpreted magnetite destruction associated with Hiltaba granite. Drilling at Tanners Dam will be co-funded by a drilling grant awarded to Renaissance by the South Australian Government pursuant to its Plan for Accelerated Exploration (PACE) program. Additional details regarding the targets at Sherrys Dam and Tanners Dam are included in Renaissance’s ASX release dated 27 February 2013.
